These terms apply to using Haunted History of South Africa and submitting stories or photographs for editorial consideration.

History, folklore and personal experiences

The website shares documented history, oral folklore, personal accounts and creative storytelling. A reported encounter or legend is not proof of paranormal activity. Sources and story categories should be considered when reading each account.

Submitting a story

Submit your own words and only photographs you own or have permission to share. Identify sources where relevant. Do not include unlawful, threatening or defamatory material, or another person’s private contact details without their permission.

Your rights and publication permission

You retain the rights to your words and photographs. Submitting a contribution allows authorised editors to store it privately, review it and contact you to collaborate about it. It does not transfer copyright or grant permission to publish.

Nothing is automatically published. Separate, explicit permission is required before your text or photographs are used publicly. Any proposed publication, editing and attribution will be discussed with you. Submission does not guarantee publication.

Collaboration-only contact

Your contact details are used purely for collaboration about your contribution. They are not used for marketing, sold, or displayed publicly. You may withdraw permission for further contact. See our Privacy Policy.

Respecting published work

Published stories and images belong to their respective rights holders. Reading them here does not grant permission to reproduce or reuse them beyond what applicable law permits. Obtain permission from the relevant rights holder before republishing.

Places and external links

A location appearing in a story is not an invitation to enter private property or an assurance that a place is safe to visit. Respect access restrictions and local laws. External websites have their own terms and are not controlled by Haunted History.

Changes and questions

These terms may be updated as the website develops. A confirmed editorial contact channel will be added before launch for questions, permission requests and contribution enquiries.
